About Silver Point Bay
A beach town, a bay town, a historic Florida community and a place whose local memory runs deeper than its population suggests.
From fishing settlement to First Coast destination.
The permanent settlement that became Silver Point Bay grew around a protected tidal landing in the late nineteenth century. The town incorporated on April 17, 1908. Tourism arrived in the early twentieth century, and the coastline, harbor, schools and neighborhoods continued evolving through the postwar and modern eras.
“A silver point on the black water.”
Local tradition traces the name to moonlight reflecting across the shallow bay.
Where the Bay Meets Tomorrow.
Silver Point Bay’s visual character mixes Atlantic blue, sea-glass green, sun-faded coral, sand, storm-cloud gray and warm sunset orange. Architecture ranges from historic wooden cottages and Spanish influence to mid-century buildings and modern beach construction.
